technology

hey guys so i wanted to do this quick post because hannah told me that on my blog posts there are some pictures where there really big and there's several pictures of the same picture, and i really had no idea i look on my page every time after i do a post but i use mozilla firefox instead of internet explorer so i never look at my blog on ie but i did tonight and saw what she was talking about. i think i know why it's doing that but i'm not for sure so i'll try n see what i can do to fix it.
so just ignore it in the previous posts i didn't try to make the pictures as big at all.

our dinging room buffet

hello, i know i know i didn't show you guys any of  our Christmas decorations so i thought i should.

so this year we kept the dinging room buffet really simple and clean looking which i really like because since i can remember it always had a coffee set that belonged to my grandma but we NEVER used it not once never and i wanted something different and i really like the way it turned out especially since we had no idea what we wanted todo so i guess i'll show you more pictures.

we just put this table runner on it the little lamps we always keep on the buffet they let out a good amount but there not too big for the space.
i think we got the runner from big lots a few years ago, and the lamps we got from big lots or dollar general i don't remember which one.

above the mirror we always put up this garland thing my mom made a few years ago all she did was wire the flowers on the pine.

looking good looking good but the sconces are bugging me they always bugged me i just thought it looked so weird having the sconces right above the lamps we don't light the candles anyway so the are purely for decoration, so moved them and it was like a breath of fresh air it just looks so much better. you'll see in a bit.

ahhh looks soo much better. dosent it?

i just put the plates on one end of the buffet and at first i just piled up the silverware or should i say goldware. but my mom couldn't stand it so she arranged each utensil kind of messy. it wasn't too neat for me so i was happy.

then in the middle i added these candle sticks things that my mom got from a store that's kind of like goodwill. then i put a large candle in that glass jar and put a bunch of little gold balls in it, then in the corner what looks like a crystal something is a candy dish that was my grandmas or great grandmas i never know wich dish or cup belonged to who.

then on the other side we just have a smelly candle that's for everyday. we put it in this metal holder thing that we got from goodwill or a yard sale i can't remember where we got it but i think it was one of those two.

so that's our  buffet. i am going to have a post recaping all of the rest of the decorations. probably next week.

p.s. you may notice that i changed my blog backround  i just got bored with the plain white and wanted something different. so yeah write you later.

Happy Christmas!!

hello all i want to say Happy Christmas i know i'm not english but i like to say Happy Christmas rather than Merry Christmas. i just like the way it sounds, i don't know why but i do.

Usually we'll do the same thing every year for Christmas where we will fix Christmas Eve dinner and after we eat dinner, then we will go and open up our presents then eat some more then relax and i will usually watch "A Christmas Story" since it's on on tbs.  Then on Christmas Day i will just relax and Watch Christmas movies then fix Christmas dinner. Then watch a classic movie like "It's a Wonderful Life" or "White Christmas".

But this year is a little different, because my brother and his girlfriend are in atlanta with her grandma for Christmas, and last year it wasn't too different because they came before Christmas but there coming down next week. so i said to my mom "why don't we open up our presents next week when their here, and she said ok so that's what were gonna do. i know it's different but were a different family.

So i gotta go and get ready then make tiramisu for dessert.  and light some candles to make it smell like Christmas.

my black christmas tree

ekkkk i just love my black christmas tree!
okay so every year i pretty much have the same thing tree wise so yeah. i got the tree at kohls i wanna say 3 years ago...i think. they still have them i see year after year in the store the also have pink and white too..just saying.

since i don't have too much floor space in my room, i have to put it on my trunk/side table thing. it's a good way for me to not pile it up with tons of junk necessary items.

the small gold balls are from walmart the snowflake ones are from a dollar store, and the star is from walmart.

i picked up a few of these white ornaments at dollar tree aren't they gorgeous!

love the sparkly flure de les ornament. i got it from hob lob.

these ones i took at night hey just look so much better.

the silver snowflake came from bath and body works.

and there it is at night. i'm sorry i seem to be hurrying my battery power is getting low n i wanted to post this so thanks for looking!!

Spiced Pumpkin Mousse Trifle

yay i finally have a new recipe!! i don't even remember what my last recipe was that's pretty bad.
ok so i got this recipe from a rachel ray magazine it was from the november 2009 issue. so yeah when i saw it i was like ohh i have to make this for thanksgiving i mean i love pumpkin pie but anything else with some pumpkin in it i love it as well.
so anyway again, it's realllyyyy easy i mean when i saw it n you know where on recipes it says "level-easy"  n you wonder is it?? well this was really easy.

so all you need is
[i got the recipe from the website so that's why the text is different]
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • One 15-ounce can pure pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • Pinch salt
  • One 7.5-ounce jar marshmallow cream
  • 3 cups chopped gingersnaps, plus crushed gingersnaps for sprinkling
  • 3 tablespoons dark rum
don't worry we used imitation rum flavor.

see

ok so like i sad i wanted to make this recipe for thanksgiving but we had 2 thanksgiving dinners this year n i didn't want to try a new recipe for my brother n his g.f.

that is like my #1 rule when it comes to trying new recipes. don't try it out for the first time when your going to have company or a party always always always try it before because
A-you might think the dish is gross, or just don't like it.
B-it ALWAYS ALWAYS takes you 2x as long when making a new recipe because you have to keep looking at the recipe to see what you need what you have to do next double check...it just takes you longer. but the 2nd time you do it it doesn't take you as long.
C-you want to get some 2nd opinions on if others like it, and ask what you should change usually it's my mom...you need somebody who will be honest because people who aren't close to you aren't going to tell you that you should change this or that or they don't like it.
D-you will want to go through the experience of making this new thing, time  and if you make it on your own time you'll feel more comfortable and won't be pressured to try n get it done because your limited on time.
E-once you've done the recipe and you love it and other love it then you defiantly know it's a keeper.

so yeah i just went off on my whole "recipe rules" thing idk why i just started writing about it because i wasn't planing on it but i did. so yeah.

anyway. AGAIN so like i wrote this was my first time making it n i tried it and i'm really glad i did because it didn't turn out like i wanted. it was still good but because you whipped your own cream n i didn't add any vannalia or sugar n just went by the recipie, so the whipped cream had pretty much no flavor...it just wasnt sweet, and i don't know about you but when dessert is'nt sweet it's just not right. so i added some cool whip the 2nd time i made it n it was sooo much better.

Directions:

  1. Using an electric mixer, beat the cream until stiff. Reserve 2 cups whipped cream for serving; refrigerate until ready to serve.
you can skip step 1 if your going to use the cool whip.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the pumpkin, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. Fold in half of the marshmallow cream, then half of the whipped cream. Repeat with the remaining marshmallow cream and whipped cream until combined.

chopp the gingersnaps idk why it doesn't say to do this in the directions.

In a medium bowl, sprinkle the gingersnaps with rum.

  1. Spoon one-third of the pumpkin mousse into a clear glass serving bowl, spreading evenly, and sprinkle half of the cookies on top. Repeat with half of the remaining mousse and the remaining cookies, then top with the final layer of mousse. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve, at least 1 hour and up to 4 hours. Just before serving, top with the reserved whipped cream and sprinkle with the crushed gingersnaps.

i forgot to take a picture if the bowl when i put the stuff in it but it pertty much looks like the pic on the website.

so yeah like i said before it's sooo easy you can also watch the video in the website, i did, i always find it helpful. so enjoy!

what do i want to write about?????

hey guys wassupp? so i'm kind of bored n thought i would do a blog post, and i don't really have topic so i guess i'll just wing it.

so first i'll say a late happy thanksgiving to everyone i would have put up a post before but my whole weekend was insane...well busy so on thursday we had thanksgiving dinner like the rest of america. then i did some more black friday planning, yes i am one of the crazy people who go shopping in the middle of the night to get some stuff. i went last year for the first time then this year i was so STOKED i mean i was really STOKED because you've got shopping crazy low prices and doing it all at 5 in the morning, and with you're friends, what more could a girl ask for?
so this year i went all out with the planning looking at the ads getting coupons planning exactly what i wanted, i was ready for the game the game of shopping. oh and i didn't sleep at all too, sleep is for the wusses!
so we went sought and concurred!
so i'll just go over what happened  hannah picked me up around 4 something we went to walmart to get a rubbermaid 40 piece set for $9 {i told you there was crazy low prices} and that's really all we got,{haha} and we saw our friend michelle at walmart n she was like "that's all you got!?!" chea! you didn't!?!

then we went  to other places, i don't really want to write where all we went cuz it's not too exciting but the wm story is.
so we went out @ 4 whatever then i did'nt get back @ my house until 3pm yeah i wasnt really tired when i got home though because we got starbucks so yeah it took a few hours for me to crash.

so then on saturday my other brother came down to celebrate thanksgiving round 2 and my moms bday which was on sat. oh and i forgot to take pictures of out fab thanksgiving meals :( we still have leftovers so i guess i could take pieces of those n tell ya'll the recipes. yeah i'll do that. so anyway we had a pleasant evening except i burnt my hand when i put the pan in the oven yeah it hurt n still hurts but i've been burnt before n it wont be the last time. oh n i burnt myself on thurs on the oven itself on my arm. so yeah

but anyway, so then on sunday we had church and didn't do too much else except for chill.

then monday we started the house madness we started putting up our christmas decorations and i say house madness because we do nothing else but decorate i told you in my fall decor post  that we go all out n i mean ALL OUT + i subscribed for the pottery barn catalog and i loveeee it i mean idk who would pay those prices for anything but you can get so many ideas i already got some ideas...well a ton of ideas.

so yeah i think that's about it  so i will write to you guys lata

some fall decor # 2

i didn't want to leave you guys hanging. i know i really hate waiting for things it drives me bananas. anyway here's the rest of the decor.

we just wrapped this hall tree in some leave garland and lights we kept it pretty simple. my great uncle made the hall tree like back in the 50's. [just a fyi] we don't use it to hang our coats on we usually always keep it in the kitchen and put garland and lights on it as if it were a "tree" type deal. idk we just have it in here and at christmas time we wrap tons of pine garland and put lights in it and ornaments as if it's a christmas tree. you'll see in a couple weeks.

on top of the cabinets we didn't do too much different from what we had up there in the summer just added some leave garland some fallish things and wola.

in the window we put some leaves down added some cinnamon sticks which sadly don't fill the room with scent, but their still decorative. then we got this sing from big lots and put it on a easel then added a red bird which my mom is obsessed with. for whatever reason.

on top of the fridge we usually have this pine tree which i'm tired of but i'm tired of but i don't know what to replace it with. [i'll take suggestions.] so my mom put leaves in the tree which i think looks chaotic but it's only temporary. then my mom took a tall candle and wrapped beady stuff around it  and put it in a glass jar. if i would have wrapped it i would have made the bead stuff tighter. i'm just saying. then we have another red bird and a give thanks singe.

then on the other counter we didn't change too much except add the gel candle and empty salt n pepper shakers.

then on the table we just added this table runner that we got from i think big lots, then walmart had marked down their fall decor things and we got this charger for 2 dollas! oh yeah put a big candle in the middle wrapped beady stuff around it [i wrapped this one] then added some uneatable nuts around it, my mom got this turkey napkin holder a longggg time ago i don't know where she got it, and put the s&p shakers on each side of it's neck.

then on top of the stove hood we just have some more lights and leave garland, a fake pumpkin some measuring cups and a welcome friends singe that was in the window.
so that's it for hte kitchen.
off to my room now

i got the small pumpkins at walgreens last year

yeah i know what your thinking what this is all she has??? well yeah i don't like to add too much for fall because i just don't maybe because i'm falled out from the rest of the place. but i will go all out for christmas. fo sho

so that's it for my room, now off to the back room.

we just took a pumpkin that my brother made from a dryer vent years ago like when he was 8 or something n now he'll be 28 soon. then added some leaves.

on the shelf i just put some leaves down added some pine cones and a fake apple then put some walnuts in a glass jar thing and just realized how crazy it looks, but we'll take it down in a few days.

well that's all  for the fall decorations, i thought i'd put this post up since thanksgiving is thursday.

some fall decor

so since thanksgiving is next week i thought i should finally post our fall decorations. so yeah here it is.

so i'm going go in order from when you walk in the front door to the back of the house.

so this is a table behind the front door in the hallway. we put the cornucopia with some fruit and leaves. i'm not a fan of the crochet lace tablecloth with this but i was in a hurry to get it up and since were going to be putting up Christmas decorations soon we can live with it.

then in the coffee table in the living room ii took a tray that i spray painted god and put these ceramic candle holder things that i got at dollar tree and the leave and gouard are candles we found a hobby lobby we don't burn them [how could you?] the put some leaves and sugared grapes i know in the picture it looks sparse but it really dosent idk why it look so sparse, weird? but it's really not.

on the mantle i put some leaf garland and another garland with green leaves and berries and lights then put the clock on one side then added some more sugared fruit and a wire pumpkin on the other side.

in the top of the mirror we just put the green leaves with berries and lights i know it's not alot but we never know what to put above the mirror but we get so stuck when it comes to putting something above this mirror.

now for the dinging room. if you follow Thrifty Decor Chick you can see i did our table similar to hers. what can i say when i see a good idea i want to do it. i mean isn't that what her blog is about anyway? so yeah

i'll do a post on how i transformed a picture frame into a center piece. but for now to make it fallish i added leaves to fill it out and some real fake fruit and pine cones.

then i put plate and bowls out. normally is we would set the table we would go all out with glasses and silverware but i didn't want to because i wanted it to look more modern cuz i always thought with the table all set with everything it kind of looks a little bit stuffy, but with just the plates it looks more modern. we don't eat in their all the time anyway.

i got the idea to do this on the buffet from the november all you magazine i'll link the picture here. i did it on the buffet instead of the table and i like it. we have a turkey soup bowl thing so i put that in the center and put the candles on each side added some leaves and more sugared fruit and the cracked fruit and some pine cones.

on top of the china cabnet we just kept it simple except all the candle sticks i never realized how bad it looks with all those candlesticks i'm going to deff go in there after i post this and take down like for of them maybe more. just try to picture them without a few candlessticks.
anyways i just took this fab bowl that we got from hobby lobby a couple years ago and put a fake white pumpkin in it that fits it perfectly. then added a glass candle jar thing next to it i don't remember where we got the glass leave jar.

on the sectary i added some leaves and more sugared fruit. shocking. and and regular fruit. then some candles.

then on the dessert buffet i just took one of those leave bowls and put a fake apple in it. i don't think you could get more simple.
so that's it for the dinging room.

so i'm going to do another post  on the rest of the place. lata

before & after: bench

so we have this bench that our neighbors put out to give away {instead of throwing away things like furniture & accessories the put it out on their curb} so and it's not really big but it's nice it wasn't falling apart or anything it just needed a new coat of paint and a change from the very old looking fabric on the seat, so we had these grourg curtains that my mom got on sale at walmart and thought of having in the dinging room put they only had 2 and i guess her idea was to have one panel on the window and pull is over to the side with i am not a fan of...i'm just not and with the baroque pattern made it even worse. so we kept them because you never know what you can use some fab fabric for and we did for this. we got the bench like last year and recovered it before i made my blog so i don't have any pics of us recovering it.

but for whatever reason we never spray painted the wood part which was so awful!......it's... just....blek i'll just show you a picture

sorry for the weird angle i was in the middle of spray painting it then i thought to take pictures. but didn't i tell you it was awful? i guess somebody might like the finish but it's just not out taste at all. but yeah i have noooo idea on why we waited so long to spray paint it but i was a nice fall day and i thought i'm gong to spray paint that bench. so yah

and what better color to paint it than black and i used one of those spray paint can gun thing that makes it 10xs easier and more comfortable to use. i LOVE it!! it really makes it easier to spray paint and it doesn't hurt your finger maybe that's why i waited so long to spray paint the bench??
sorry it a lil blurry i couldn't get a good shot but i figure ya'll knew what a can of spray paint looks like.

so here's the finished product!

dosen't it look 10's better? and didn't i tell you the fabric was gorg!?!
we got the smaller bench from our other neighbor when she moved out she gave us a bunch of stuff and this bench we didn't have to do anything to it except we just covered the seat with the fabric.
then to give the bench some height we added a pillow like that you sleep on and covered it in the fabric i don't really like it like the way the pillow looks but i can live with it. were going to take off the wallpaper and change the colors int the hallway hopefully this spring and we have no idea what color scheme were going with. so anayway...

so here you have it a bench that went from blek to fab!
write ya lata
